Combined Oyster and Barclaycard to be Launched - OnePulse
Londoners will be glad to hear that by September 2007 you should be able to use a mash up of the very successful Oyster Card and Barclays credit card. Many Londoners I speak to complain about their wallets overflowing with various types of plastic so any efforts to help that problem will probably be most welcome.
The Barclaycard OnePulse as it’s known, will offer payment of purchases under £10 by swiping the card on readers in shops, car parks and vending machines.
According to This Is Money:
“It is the result of a deal between Barclaycard, Visa and Transport for London. It will be the first time the Oyster card system has been added to a bank card, and the first time a contactless payment system, where users do not need to enter a Pin or sign for purchases under £10, has been used in Britain.”
‘We believe Barclaycard OnePulse is the future of payments in London and hope as many Londoners as possible enjoy the benefits when it is rolled out in the autumn,’ said Elizabeth Chambers of Barclaycard. The company is signing up hundreds of retailers, including newsagents, coffee shops and cafés, who will install card readers at their tills.
